That perfect dress

Creating that perfect piece of Clothing

Sometimes we don’t have that average body types so we don’t usually get that perfect fit. We sometimes pay for expensive clothing that we have to end up altering on so that it fits nicely. I really like going out feeling comfortable in my own sense of style. I really love wearing long dresses because it makes me feel elegant and because I am already 6 ft I usually don’t get my length . I don’t have to wear heels.

Last year I met two incredible mothers who are really good at sewing. I told my friends my problem and they suggested that I tried making my own clothing.

A prayer for Libya

A Prayer for Libya

Demanded a Ransom,
Beaten with cables
No phone calls to family members.
Trapped for months and unable to be set free until was able to pay his way home
painful feelings.
all dreams and aspirations left behind.
Witnessing people dying besides you from being beaten to death and mutilated.
he tells his story.

An ordinary town in Libya with folks living their everyday life.
working people, children going to school . families having dinner.
They are being auctioned. These people are being used as slaves the only thing that is missing is the chains on wrist and ankles

The event is so traumatizing for any human. Boats are filled to a capacity of 100 people with gangs operating in the country. They travel across see not promised to make it alive. The smugglers are concerned with making money.

Ten thousand people often try to cross the borders for better opportunities in Europe.  Leaving everything behind and some selling all they have own to assist with financial in their journey. These refugees have left for better but they are greeted with worse as slaves.

Black protesters have made it there duty to put a stop to it and create awareness worldwide so everyone knows what unimaginable horror that is taking place in Libya .

Lets say a prayer and ask God to put a stop to this horror. for slavery was abolished and our black folks can do without  another cycle.

Miss Universe Jamaica 2017

She was well-poised,elegant, and as regal as any of our historical African queens. Cleopatra, Nefertiti, Nandi to name a few! She sashayed and strutted her way to the top three, confidently and effortlessly as if destined to claim her place as a historical queen whose gait was infused with African and Caribbean rhythms in stark contrast to her Eurocentric counterparts.

She flaunts in her bathing suit with her glowing skin and shape looked like a diet consisted of strictly provision and callaloo. Body toned to the bone. As an individual of African descent you cant helped but smile inwardly as the butterflies in its group storms throughout your body because this beauty changed the perception of what is elegance. She showed the world that natural hair is a blessing and it can be worn at any occasion. Little blacks girls everywhere can now feel proud of their black Afros.
What was so outstanding about Miss Jamaica?
Eurocentric beauty standards seemed to be the characteristics that make a woman a true queen. The
fact that Jamaica was able to fight to the top without genuflecting to those ideal is nothing else but groundbreaking.

She had a purpose to bridge the gap for those with hearing impairment and her passion to achieve this step shows us all black women that she is truly the winner in our eyes and our Queen at heart. We wish you nothing but success in your future endeavors Miss Jamaica.

the Beauty of Makeup

MUA: Gerren Williams

I met a beautiful young Lady by the name of Gerren Williams who got the magic hands.
Ms. Williams specializes in doing a complete full face of makeup that can blow any human away.
One day at work we had an event to attend and i was telling her that i needed someone to do my makeup. She said she would bring her makeup kit and she would have done it for me the next day.

Gerren opened my eyes to new makeup and brands that enhances black beauty leaving you looking flawless. I paid close attention to how she did my face from  beginning to end. She started by using magnesia on my face. Milk of magnesia is also known as magnesium hydroxide. It is great for skin care if you have oily skin and it can combat oily skin and impart smoothness to your skin.

She started drawing on my eyebrows using a dark eyebrow pencil perfect enough for my skin tone and she used the LA Girl concealer pro to highlight my eye brows.
When she was finish she rubbed that same La girl pro on my on my eye lid and proceeded to apply eye shadow using a brush and Mac eye shadow palette.

She then put on my eyelashes and took La pro liquid pen eyeliner drawing a wing

I asked Gerren four  questions

When did she started doing Makeup?
Who was her inspiration ?
What products she uses ?
How much do you charge to do a full face?
 MUA: Gerren Williams

I started doing makeup in my early teens
My Inspiration was my mother and YouTube tutorials

I am a beginner so i usually charge 150$

Thank you Gerren Williams for giving me the opportunity to share your talent on my Blog.

The journey from relaxer to Natural hair

Transitioning  from relaxer to natural hair

I asked three beautiful Caribbean black girls through conversations on Whats app how they felt through the entire transitioning process from relaxer to natural hair. I received three amazing response. It is very difficult in terms of maintenance but it’s worth it. It may be time consuming and very expensive. However it gets easier. What these three  girls had in common is the fact that they used protective styles to take the burden away of having to comb their hair every day. With the weekly notion of washing and steaming and applying these protective hairstyles. What it does is it allows the hair to takes it course and to grow out getting rid of the relaxer.
What these girls also have in common is the fact that when the hair grows long enough to the girls liking they cut off the remainder of the relaxer. They live the life of their hand passing through the coil of their hair relentlessly .

I did the big chop. I took off the remainders of my relaxer and i am ready to wear my natural hair. I mean not just yet. I will still continue to do my protective hairstyles but one of the things I struggle with is confidence, wearing my hair with confidence is one of the hardest things to do. I mean my texture is very different  but after speaking to other girl with natural hair they introduced me to many products that helps with detangling and making my hair softer and much more manageable. I have not started using any products as yet or twist outs so you can say that i am still in the beginning stages.

I asked my three amazing Caribbean girls three questions which are:
1. What was the hardest part of transitioning from relaxer to Natural hair
2. What products do you use
3. How do you feel now with your natural hair.

Anisa Yearwood Response:
1. My hair was very thick so it was difficult combing it out but i did protective hairstyles that helped      me to cope with styling until i was ready to fully used my hair together with products.
2. The products i use was Carols Natural hair products.
3. I feel Beautiful without trying.

Nneka Marlow Response
1. The Two hair textures was my biggest challenge which resulted it me leaving the house without having it braided. it was very thick.
2. the products i use Shea Moisture Shampoo, Masque and Camille rose twisting butter and Jamaican black castor oil
3.i feel really great and i always receive compliments from other Black queens.

Shanesa Lynch Response:
1. Moisturizing made my hair heavy
2.The product I use was Cantu
3.I feel great my hair feels healthier and i feel even more confident.

It is so beautiful to know that we are all going back to where we belong embracing our ethnicity and feeling confident in ourselves.

Please tell me how you guys feel about my post
I would like to give a shout out to my three beauties for allowing me the opportunity to include them on my post.

I would appreciate any comments or concerns. Thank You <3 p="">

Knowing your Hair texture

KNOWING YOUR HAIR

·        Type 4 is kinky, or very tightly curled, with a clearly visible curl pattern
·        Circumference: Crochet needle or even smaller.
·        The hair is very wiry, very tightly coiled and very, very fragile.
·        Type 4 hair can range from fine/thin to wiry/coarse with lots and lots of strands densely packed together.
·        Type 4 hairs has fewer cuticle layers than any other hair type, which means that it has less natural protection from the damage you inflict by combing, brushing, curling, blow-drying and straightening it.
·        Type 4 hair is known to shrink up to 75% of the actual hair length

There are two Type 4 subtypes:
·        •4b: Has a “Z” pattern, less of a defined curl pattern. Instead of curling or coiling, the hair bends in sharp angles like the letter “Z”; has a cotton-like feel
·        4a: Tightly coiled hair that, when stretched, has an “S” pattern, much like curly hair. It tends to have more moisture than 4b; has a definite curl pattern

• Circumference: Pencil or straw
• The curls can be either kinky, or very tightly curled, with lots and lots of strands densely packed together
• Getting this type of hair to blow dry straight is more challenging than for 3a or 3b, but it usually can be done
• The very tight curls are usually fine in texture

• Use styling creams, butters and oils for type 3c hair
• This hair type needs extra moisture and tender-loving care because it can be fragile
• Detangle hair with a lot of conditioner in your hair and use a comb or detangling brush
• Do not use a brush or comb on your dry curls

I would cry every Sunday when she attempted to wash detangle dry and style my hair to go to school for the week. She tried many different products and yes they worked but to me it was still painful. i knew it was more painful for her to see me gush it pain and even more painful to deal with 2 heads because my twin sister.
Mom i knew you tried your best  and this gave me the driving force to create 10 strategies in managing kids with  natural hair.

.
Take Breaks
Depending on the style that you may be working on, it could take a lot of time to complete.  Make sure that breaks are taken at least every 30 minutes to an hour.  The will break up the monotony.

Confirm Comfort
Constantly check on them while you are doing their hair.  Ask them if they are comfortable or if they need anything.  Use this time to let the child know that they are your main focus.

Reach Out
